Just thought it would be fun to see the time line of most fishermen. I usually dont plan my first big outing until sometime in March, when the water warms up some and I can wade the guts at North Padre without feeling hypothermic.

Three weeks ago...

We went the last week of Dec and I cant wait to get back to the coast, probably March and another in April. Freshwater every week weather permitting.

my first trip is usually right after new years during the last bit of my winter break , but after that i hit the water during mid march when i get out of school for SB, winds are usually howling during the spring so look at the weather before you go,

March is when an angler can really get serious about wade fishing - or fishing for that matter.

Tides will be up - fish migrating back into the bays from the Gulf of Mexico - spring equinox will bring in the spring bull tides ....

I'm with Pat... don't let the wind bother you, use it to your advantage.

Right after my last trip. Winter time for reds can be outstanding, and far fewer fishermen. Fish are more condensed, and predictable in winter. IMO.

I never stopped fishing lol. I fish year round I like it when its cooler less traffic.

We are always planning the next trip. Usually I get a trip around Valentines day for my present. Looking at next weekend this year!! Can you say one happy shoalgirl

Yep - fish can hole up or get caught on a "fish Highway" when northers blow the wwater off the flats in the winter ...

Fish eat year round and can be caught year round if'n ya know the right locations and when to fish them !!!!

Some of the best days have been cold low sky days. Fish go crazy.
