I've never been to SC but thinking of going. I know about the registration and $30 boat fee but is this not a kayak friendly lake? I don't hear reports on the lake in this section so has anybody been there in a kayak?

I don't care how good the fishing may be, I'm not paying that fee.

I'd like to fish it sometime but something about the way it's all ran makes me head east to the other good lakes

Yep. I fish it. No need to go straight away in the morning. Most of the best fishing for me is from 10A-3P. Fish the cove at the boat launch and then paddle to the island. Work the coves nearby there toward the plant.

I don't care how good the fishing may be, I'm not paying that fee. It's going to cost $100 for me to get skunked on Lewisville Saturday so I why not spend that in gas and access fee? I'd like to fish it sometime but something about the way it's all ran makes me head east to the other good lakes Thats the info I'm looking for. I talked to them and it sounds straight enough. Nobody on the water before a set time, everybody off by 4, and only a set # of boats allowed on the water. It's closer than the east Texas lakes and it's a change is the main reason for wanting to fish it.

I think the fee is what keeps most of us from fishing it (me included) However driving out 2 hours to the nearest PP lake to east cost me more than that in gas anyways so either way. If squaw is fairly close to you, you will save the money in gas at least.

its been years and years since I last fished it. I think it cost around $3 to get in. So my info may be a little stale lol. Pumkin/chartruse Zoom Lizards 6" or 8" if you can find them. I could not imagine getting to my old spots in a yak so I will not bother you with that. Flip those lizards in any cedars say in about 8' to 12'. Watch out for a strong NW wind the main lake at the boat ramp cove gets a little rough.

It's 30 bucks to fish it now, crowded, and you have to be off the water by 4pm I think. Average fish seem to be 2-3 pounds but not a lot if big ones... Never fished it and I'll continue to pass on it...

To me its draw of being a somewhat low pressure power plant lake is out weighed by all the negatives mentioned above plus the golden algae a while back didn't help.
Good luck tho... there must be a reason guys keep going back

I had heard there was schools of 10 lb LMB. LOL My wife asked me about it the other day and told her I had not heard much about it lately. I think I will pass also. Dont mind the $30 so much as the what would be the benefit. Plus I dont really target LMB that much anyway.. Is it a good place to kayak?

The lake seems to be fishing pretty well right now. A 10+ was caught two weeks ago at the APT Solo tournament and as mentioned above there was a 29lbs stringer caught last week. I won't fish it from the kayak because your limited on areas to fish from the kayak but it's not worth the $30 fee. But I have been trying to convince my buddy we need to go out there with his Ranger. The power plant company limits the number of boats that can be out there each day so I'm not sure why people think it gets crowded.
