Kudos to my MN Buddy Andy Young for taking the Money on a stingy Amistad!

Guess he was a little more used to dealing with the cold

What a tough event! I had 8 keeper bites day 1. Day 2 my 3 spots were covered up in boats. I really thought I might zero. My first bite was at 2pm, had another at 3. I managed 31st place with only 2 bass the final day. Congrats to all who fished. It was a mental beating!!!

Never been so cold in all my life, I am still thawing out. Ice pellets falling on my Goretex hood for two days, turned it from a physical beating to a mental beating for sure!!

I can't believe how both Lee brothers got top 10. Pretty impressive for a couple guys from Alabama. I remember fishing against them in some college events and they were consistently near the leaderboard

I know what you mean. I've been frozen like that and it ain't no fun.
I have duck hunting gear now and that is by far a lot warmer than anything I have ever worn that was designed to keep me warm while fishing.
If I have to fish in these conditions that is what I will be wearing. I can hunt standing in thigh deep water with ice on it for hours and never get cold in my duck hunting gear.
I also have tested several pairs of gloves and found that the best gloves by far are the fingerless camo mitten gloves you can get at Walmart. They have a mitten cover that velcros over your fingers allowing them to share body heat, I think this is what makes them work so well. I keep the mitten covers over my fingers until I need to use my finger and as long as I don't get them wet my hands stay warm. You should be able to operate bait cast reels with the mittens on. We also carry the chemical hand and foot warmers as a back up....I believe the brand name is Hot Hands....
For the feet I recommend one good thick pair of wool socks with boots literally 2 sizes bigger that what you wear. I worked in the food industry for several years in a refrigerated environment and this is how we kept our feet toasty warm. You need the air space to accumulate body heat and allow blood to circulate freely to the feet to stay warm. Example; if you wear a size 7 skip up past the 7 and half to the 8..........
