Would like to plan a man trip down to the gulf for shark fishing. Anyone have any recommendations on time of year, guides, location, etc? Any insight is really appreciated

I have always done well on PINS and the Bolivar peninsula for shark in the summer. Just yak a big piece of cut bait out 200-400 yards out and wait. You can also walk out to the second bar and cast from there for smaller shark. They can also be caught at the many piers on the surf.

We did very well last year with sharks. We even caught them when not trying.... Like trolling a rapala.

Texas Shark Fishing . com read handbook, all the info you need in 1 place. You fishing from the beach or boat, big difference there, long drops or surf fishing? On my last trip a month ago I saw a Penn 6/0 pulled off a rod, it broke the cheap non metal reel seat, we held the reel and did not loose it. You asked a very open ended question there.

what size line, reel, and rod are needed to catch shark? What size shark? We have landed 150lb black tips on TLD 20's
