Ok bass guys, I am strictly a crappie guy so don't beat me up too bad!
I went to the Dallas boat show yesterday and visited with the sales guy for Hydrowave. He tells me you bass guys won't hit the water without one!!! He also says that it works for all species of fish and crappie is no exception.
Help me out here and let me know what you think.

And I guess one other question, if this thing works for all species, what keeps all species from coming into your target area and getting caught instead of just the species you are looking for? I guess, in other words, would this thing work with crappie why wouldn't I catch something else besides crappie?

Just need a little help here and thanks in advance.

I have tried mine for over 6 months, have seen no improvement in catch rates. Of any species.

Does he let you know what tourneys he's using them or is this your own scientific research?

Lee its basically a device that fastens to your TM and has a control unit that mounts at the bow that is supposed to recreate the sounds of bait fish. I listened to one at BPS Garland and it basically just makes a bunch of clicking noises........It "is" or "was" supposed to be the next evolution in fishing technology.......

I've read things on here about them and I believe if they are tuned right for the situation they will attract bait fish just like they are advertised.......but if the predator fish aren't in a feeding mode at the moment well..........it no workee

Us elder flatulants may remember the Color-C-Lector .... it was a probe, with an indicator, that you lowered into the water to give you the "exact" optimum color at any given depth. The inventors of this stuff are probably laying up in the Bahamas giggling.

Im not saying it is a magic piece of technology but it does cause a reaction in fish. If you see a demo you will see what I'm talking about.

It's a tool just like a graph, or power pole etc...

That was Dr. Loren Hill, Professor of Zoology @ Oklahoma University....we lost him in 2008.....he dearly loved the sport. I saw him fishing with Jimmy Houston on his show a couple of times. He invested 9 years of his life developing this technology. I saw the research he did and the human eye could pick up the colors @ depths the selector indicated. Now whether that mattered to the fish or not.....who knows.......I never did the color thing, I always tried to "match the hatch"......

Just to play devil's advocate, I think the more correct statement is when KVD was developing the Hydrowave and was the ONLY one using it, he dominated. Now that 90% of the pros use it, the playing field has leveled.

I have the full size & the new mini. I will admit there were times when it meant absolutely nothing to my catch rate. But there have been times when it made a difference fishing dead water behind other fisherman. I have the battery operated mini on my dock & when my grandkids come to fish, I turn it on. Now for full disclosure, I have brush piles & a feeder, so I have plenty of fish. But when I turn on the Hydrowave, I see more activity. One thing that is an absolute fact is there have been times I had to beat the cormorants away from the front of the boat.
