About 50 minutes from DFW metroplex. Purtis Creek state park. The lake is beautiful. About 360 acres. Two lighted fishing piers and a smaller theirs pier that are on opposite sides of the lake. The bass really like being around the docks because people havve put plenty of cover around them. There used to be a bait shop in the park, but it closed. Eustace is the nearest town about 5 minutes away and there is a gas station where you can get minnows. Tons of other shoreline acsess including the dam if you want a spot to your self. I mention minnows because that's the most effective way most of the time to catch them around the piers. I used to like to fish a t-rig worm or something while I set another rod out with the minnow. You won't leave empty handed and I cant think of a nicer place to just take it easy. This is where I got hooked bass fishing. We still take our boat out there just haven't been in a while. It can fish slow in the winter but April should be good. I should mention that bass are catch and release only.
