I would like to see a comparison of the Curado I series and Chronarch E series.
I've got a few Citica 200E reels that are great and one Chronarch E series reel that's the finest reel I've ever used. And well it should be for $200.

The E series Chronarch is just a repainted/rebadged E Curado. It has an aluminum frame, comes in a 200/201 and 50/51 sizes and is just a good workhorse of a reel. The Ci4+ Chronarch is a mid-sized 150/151 reel that is made from Shimano's proprietary carbon composite. It has an externally adjustable centrifugal brake that is a completely different system than the E series centrifugal brake. I don't have any DC, Antares or BFS reels from Shimano, but the Ci4+ is the best casting Shimano I've ever had. The Ci4+ Chronarch is noticeably smoother than an E series but does have a strange feel to it due to its carbon composite construction compared to all the aluminum framed reels I have. It looks like the new Curado is going to be an aluminum framed reel with a brake system similar to the Ci4+ Chronarch. Ought to be a winner. Just have to see when they become available.

I still use Core's all the way around. I did buy 2 Chronarch Ci4's last year and love them.

I picked up the new CI4+ and the New Metanium. The new gear systems (more, smaller teeth engaged) are a noticeable improvement. Really high gear ratios also. Both are under 7 oz with the Metanium being lighter (6 oz). The new brake system has been flawless so far- set it and forget it. Both are very comfortable. Everything you love about a Shimano except a little lighter, a little smoother, and and higher gear ratio. Honestly, I feel the CI4+ is a slightly better buy. The Metanium is my favorite, but I can't feel the $180-200 difference. I have heard Shimano really listened to guys at their dealerships (SW Tackle included) about what their customers wanted when they designed these new reels. For comparison, I picked up a like new Core 50mg, and a Gen III STX around the same time. All are wonderful, but the the new Shimano variations outshine the rest due to the smoothness of the new gearing, ease of set-up, and maintenance free performance. For what is worth, I'm a weekend guy with no sponsorship, or tournament history.
