I use one of my 8' custom rods, but Jason Romero is building me a rod for square bills as well at Bayou Kustom Rods, and yes, I am affiliated with him, but you get what you pay for in custom rods. I also use the Curado, but mine is a B5 so 5.1:1 ratio. I also have a 200 SF that I use if they want it faster, on another custom built 8' rod. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

normally any rod that is a med heavy is fine as long as it has a little give in the tip, you don't want to pull that crank out of their mouth...i learned that after loosing a fish 10+ pounds...i like to use a 5:1 gear ratio reel but a 6:3:1 is just fine. Tight Lines

I use all 3 ratios. The 6.4:1 gets most use though. Med to Med/Hvy 7'+

6.3:1 reel, 7ft medium-medium heavy rod, and line depends on cover, water clarity, and how deep you want your bait to run.

6.4:1 works good for me. I like a rod I can roll cast underhanded so I use 6'8" medium power, mod-fast action
