Im a fan of of the Mr. Crappie tackle line, and even of Walley himself, but I've gotta admit, i was disappointed with his 6lb line.
I just spooled up one of my rigs with some 6lb Mr Crappie Hi Vis yellow line, and busted it while cinching down my knot! I thought maybe it was a fluke, so retied, and fished a bit. Ended up snagging some brush, so I gently tugged to see if I could wiggle it free, and *SNAP* again. Ive been able to straighten out my hook on brush using 6lb Suffix line. This one busted before I even tried to really tug on it.
Did I just get a bad spool, or this a common issue?

I like the 6 lb WM hi-vis,I think it may be a little tougher than 6 lb p-line.I do seem to break off kinda easy if I tie two jigs on.It always breaks at the top knot. palomar or loop...doesn't matter.I do break 4 lb a lot when tying on my jigs.

Wow, thanks Mr. Marshal!
I chalked it up to a bad spool, and just tossed it, but next time I defiantly call the service number.
Wow, talk about standing behind your products!
Thanks!
ps - I was fishing out at Lake Alan Henry, but didnt have much luck. If your ever around these parts, I know of a few people who would like to see you in action!

Got the 5'6 slab shaker. Love the pole but heard the line was weak. I was gonna give it a try in the lake but I did a tug test and it snapped easily. A lot of the reviews on the pole said the line was weak so I replaced it with suffix 6lb hi viz orange. Slab shaker is a quality combo tho.. New line and your set.

Did I just get a bad spool, or this a common issue? IN MY EXPERIENCE, IT IS A COMMON ISSUE. It is nice that we have someone represent the "art of crappie fishing" on a National scale, but after trying unsuccessfully to find a "good spool" of Mr. Crappie Hi-Vis 6lb line....I started trying to figure out what was up....from what I could tell, it was private label Zebco line, the cheapest, weakest line on the market....same spools, same packaging, same wrapping, same boxes, same shelf, same diameter, different color...same junk. Don't get me wrong, I have met you, visited with you, and thought you were a FANTASTIC, PATIENT, AND HELPFUL PERSON...but BUT I will NOT use your line...or most of your products until the quality vastly improves.

Spool you some Bone Head Tackle Line !! You want be disappointed !!! "sound" advice there brother I think the most probable reason for the mister 6 failure old age ? I had someone give me a large spool of the 6 clear still in its wrapper ....told me they had it for ever and wasn't gunna use it I noticed the same thing with it ..... the new rolls of the hi vis mister 6 I used didn't have that problem and I know one or 2 folks that use the clear and like it a lot when mono is aged it becomes brittle a lot of the time I never keep light mono on the reel for very long the little reels don't hold much anyway fresher is better ....no matter the manufacturer

Honesty is integrity. You've proved your status again crapicat.
Suffix 6lb is good line but this was another line that was tested in the office and still didn't compete with bonehead mono as far as breaking capacity and scoring.

Purchased a high vis spool mr crappie at academy in McKinney 2 weeks ago and have used it twice since... No issues
Wife and friends use the drop shot minnow rig with the red long shanked hooks by mr crappie...
Threw half a spool of high vis purchased two seasons ago as it was brittle...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I'm still using the same mr crappie spool from 2007 without issues. Tried suffix, didnt like it, stayed true to the MC until something else proves better

Been fishing Mr. Crappie yellow for a long time now at Ray Roberts in the thick stuff and I find it to be very tough to break. I straighten my jig and minnow hooks before the line breaks! I fish 6 or 8lb can't remember right now.
See you on the lake and have a great day!
