It's my weekend to work and my co-worker is ribbing me cause he's located some fish and he's going on Sunday. Well of course I tell him that he needs to be in church on Sunday and he quickly replies "My ol pappy always said that it's better to be fishing and thinking about God than to be sitting in church thinking about fishing".

He's a good man and knows where his priorities are. He's just jerking my chain is all. I'd never heard that saying before. I'll have to run it by the preacher. lol

Be nice fellas. It doesn't matter where one finds god as long as god is found.
Kind of like the jigs versus minnow debate. Doesn't matter the technique as long as goal is accomplished. All other opinions are just that. Opinions.
And if I remember correctly the word was heard and congregations gathered waterside much of the time in the good book. Look at where many deciples were found.

Go fishing. Learn to worship and praise outside of church. Just don't get into the habit of missing church frequently if you go all the time.

Well spoken church's were started to aid the Widows and needy in those areas as well as teach new Christians. It was also a resting place for those that were passing back through, to rest and tell of the great things that had took place on their mission trips.
