Hey guys, headed to Lake Hamilton this weekend, and was wondering if any of y'all had any advice for this lake at this time of year. Thanks

The lake is on draw down right now for the winter; just pay attention where you are running at.

Fished there in september for FLW and caught 1 keeper, that was in 4 foot of water on swim bait. Although, lake is pretty deep with alot on contour. I would run past the bridge on the south end and hit some of those points, theres a few humps out from the south end bridge maybe try that too.

Good Luck

Fished it last september as well for FLW. Caught a few on a light alabama rig and drop shot. LOTS of grass. Look for the bait balls in the grass and youll find some fish. Ours were caught on roadbeds and points

Was there for the FLW tournament. Fishing was slow and we caught a lot of short fish. Managed 2 keepers, def a tough lake. Fished drop shot all day in and around grass on points and road beds. Tried docks to no avail. Heard you can catch them early on spinnerbaits though.

I wish I'd have seen this thread yesterday. I live on Hamilton. The last time I was out, the water was COLD! We've had some really cold weather since the first of the year. Surface temp was in the low 40's. Typically, during the winter, especially during really cold weather, a shakey head or drop shot on vertical or near vertical bluffs are your best bet. A jerk bait is a good second choice on transition areas as well. All of our area lakes are fishing tough at the moment, just due to the cold.

Stair,
Unless you have to fish it for a tournament, I wouldnt....
IMO Lake Quachita or Lake Degray, which are right there close to Hamilton are much better fisheries.
We stay there about a week each year for a family deal and I can say most of the boats that the family brings are bass boats and they dont get launched at Hamilton
