Which Dobyns rod is best suited for drop shot for LM? I'm just getting into using spinning gear and need some advice. Where is the closest place around Rockwall/ DFW to pick one up? Also consider used one if someone has one sitting around. Thanks for the info.

Send a pm to stan browning and see if you can demo a couple before You buy. I use a savvy 702 spinning rod. I want a champion extreme 701 for just this application. I'm using 15 pound braid with 6 pound flouro leader. A shimano Sedona 1000 reel

I have the Champion 702SF that I love to use fishing a drop shot. Have caught LM up to 8.5 lbs on Lake Fork using 10 lb Power Pro braid and 10 lb Fluoro as leader. That 702 is so sensitive and well balanced. Allowed a Canadian visitor to use it while on Fork and he bought one upon returning home to fish for smallmouth.

I use 701, I prefer lighter action and softer tip because many drop shot bites you don't know until you pull a little. Softer tip puts less pressure on fish so maybe they don't drop before you can set hook.
