This is the knot I've done but it somehow slips out or it would b4 I redid all my knots.
The tag part of the line is what was slipping after cutting even tho I thought I did a good job on tight knot.

What I did on latest knots:
you do the above link
tie it down by pulling on both string and tag, make sure the line has minimal spaces on the spiral pull some more, pull on line and swivel as it sometimes goes to the bottom of swivel eyelet pull on the line and tag again a bit harder this time, then about 5 weekish tugs on the swivel and line, then line/tag again, leave about 1cm of tag line.
And hope it does not slip!

Side questions, as I don't want to flood the forum with threads.
Can I go fishing anytime of the year? offseason? this weekend? and also get my license on Friday or Saturday, and fish same day, or 1 day after getting?

my (vintage?) rod is rated 5-8lbs line, got 10lbs on it, but can't seem to lift a 5lbs weight(like I got a fish on the line), it flexes quite a bit then chicken out.
but this 10lbs line cant seem to pickup 10lbs of weights? (I just hold the rod with the reel on in a vertical position and slowly pull up.)
Can I catch a 10lbs bass with this? I think I have caught a few 12inchish catfish b4 with it, but that was a long time ago, and don't know the weight of em.

Me personally I just use the regular clinch knot, depending on the size of line I'll wrap it more or less. When I'm crappie fishing and using 6-8 pound line I'll twist 10 times. Bass I use 30 lb braid, I wrap this 8 times and put a drop of super glue on the knot. When I'm bass fishing with mono, I use 12 lb big game, I wrap this 8 times. When I'm cat fishing with 30 lb mono, I'll wrap about 7 times, never had a problem with knots slipping. Using 10 mono, I'd set your drag correctly. I preference is 30 lb suffix, it's pricey, but worth it. Very sensitive.

Cast it, reel it, jerk it.

Palomar is the greatest knot of all time and all others are inferior! The beauty is in the simplicity.

I actually have had trouble with the palomar popping on the heavier flourocarbon like `17lb and above.

Never had Polomar slip or break on any of my lines. I use it on flouro, mono and braid. Works great for me. Easy to tie even in low light conditions. I seldom use flouro above 20lb.

I can tie a palomar in pitch black darkness with frozen fingers even.

I just make sure I spit up the flouro real good before I cinch the palomar down. Seems to work. Never have problems with palomar on 15lb and under flouro. Works excellent for me with 10lb flouro I know that.

I also seldom use 17lb or above flouro. Seems to pop at the knot easier no matter what I do.

i'm trying a new knot this year. a double san diego knot. so far I like it. I've done a few tests with polamar and it, while a jig was attached to my truck bumper.. set the hook with lots of drag(thought the rod was gonna pop a few times, and may have even pulled some muscles in my wrists).. LOL! the polamar took about 12 times of hook setting before it popped. the double san diego never popped, the 65# braid did instead (I used braid tied to a 25# flouro leader with an alberto knot). I lost 3 good fish last year in tournaments on hook sets when the polamar cinched down on itself and popped the knot(20# invisX).

Take a look at the "uni" knot. Simple, and according to Bassmaster magazine, retains 90% of its knot strength. I switched to it last year (instead of the improved clinch knot)and have had no issues.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Gotta cinch that palomar down good before you go making hooksets or it will pop. Doesn't hurt to moisten it either. Once it's cinched down and tied right, it'll hold and won't budge. Should never cinch down on itself if it's tied right. I can also tie five palomars in the time it takes some people to tie one San Diego knot haha.
