Thought I would share these as they are great trout catchers and not used as much as they could be Developed back in the UK over 100 years ago and they still work! I am tying a selection for a TFF member Tight lines all Mike

Hi Bob The three variations pictured are Partridge and orange Body of Pearsall's orange silk hackle grey partridge tied to recline to the back of the hook
Partridge and hares ear As above but the body is dubbed hares ear from the base of the ear
The third one is one of my favorites Tag chartreuse tying thread (danvilles) Body hares ear Hackle as above
None are weighted as they were designed originally to flow in the current. take a look at one pulled through the water the action is amazing Hope this helps and happy tying Mike

The last day I fished the white this year it was a yellow soft hackle or nothing. Looke to be about the same as the top ones posted. They were fighting over that thing.

Yes the hooks are a long shank size 14 although I do go down to a 20 and also tie them on normal shank hooks. Of course the barbs have been removed Mike Thanks mickfly and robert

Looks good, Mike. Some of my favorites to tie. Prolly cause they're so simple. Kirk

Yea they look great I have never tried any with that heavy body. I have only used one with thread on the hook. Is that just dubbing for the body?

I love small soft hackles tied on about a foot and a half below big wooly bugger. I catch a TON of fish like that.

Thought I'd drop in this article with some sage words on soft hackle from G.E.M Skues and Sylvester Nemes See the section entitled "X-Factor" The Case for Soft-Hackle
