Hi. How was your Holidays? Mine was good except I didn't get what I wish for every year. Thats right. I wished for some brillant inventor of kayak fishing stuff to invent a crate that will A) Hold at least 5 regular size tackle trays FLAT (as in not standing up on their side) B) allow me to easily access all of said tackle trays without having to remove more than one at a time to get to them.

Love,

m@r

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

If one was made it would have to be pretty tall. The milk crate sits down inside the hull on most kayaks. Getting to the bottom tackle boxes would be a tight fit.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Good find phish.

m@r - just curious, why the preference for horizontal storage?

Because stuff always moves around when I store mine on their sides.

Thanks Phish. That one only holds three trays tho. I always have one for teminal tackle, one for jigs, one of spinners and buzz baits, one for topwaters, and one for cranks.
I need it to hold all of those flat so I can access them without taking them out, plus hold my soft plastics bag, my anchor, my drift sock, a couple of brush clips, and a place for my dip-n-die, my scent spray, and my reel majic spray would be nice too.
Also it would be cool if it had a couple of rod holders. I usually stick my 360 light in my crate's rod holder. Also if I take a net, that too...

You make an excellent point tho Phish. I do need to keep looking outside the box so to speak for something I can adapt to my need. Thank you again for the idea.

Yeah I know...
I was envisioning something that kind of rotated the boxes up at an angle to pull them out, but stored them more or less flat. Kind of like that storage spot on the PA but big enough to hold five trays...

But I dont have it perfectly envisioned in my head. If I did I would try to build it myself already. I'm missing a genius idea that would make it all work. grin

Could put a crate on it's side to slide the boxes in and make some sort of rail (pvc of poly cutting board pieces) on top for "stuff".

Or just get a BOAT. smile

Stack 2 of phishes boxes together. The tray dimensions look about the same as a Plano 3700.

Fab up something like this to mount them to.

Tilting table

Seems like a lot of effort just to hold your boxes flat but I can appreciate cold windy day projects to take your mind off the fact you aren't fishing. smile

Well, now I have a new idea for something to build.

like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack
