Myself and Mike "USMC_GY" fished Lake Dunlap this morning. We usually target the big Redear but we got into some very nice Bass. Ended up catching seven nice fish with the biggest going 24" in length and weighing 8.25 Lbs. The second biggest fish was 5.75 Lbs. with a length of 21.75". We had one other fish over five pounds and four more going between 2 to 4 pounds. Fish were caught on Jigs in 8 to 10 feet of water. All fish were released to fight again.

Last recent report I read on bass fishing on Dunlap is that the fishing was terribly slow?
So much for that report!

Always happy to see a fellow angler do well...so congrats Chuck...great looking fish! That being said, this post in conjunction with my recent slump on Dunlap makes me want to take up knitting or something equally as mindless

Thanks guys for the replies. It seems like the Bass were the only fish biting this morning. This ever changing weather has em hard to figure out. One day it's in the twenties and the next it's in the Mid seventies. Until we get some stable weather (cold or warm) for awhile the winter patterns will be hard to figure out until the March spawn. Just my two cents.

I went out this evening, 1/29, around 3:00. It was a subtle/finicky bite. I had 8 bites, and had some decent fish, but not the success in size you guys had today....CONGRATS. I went out not expecting too much, and hoping for a big one. I was pleased, and glad to set some hooks......This weather........ Well, there is a word, or 2, I would like to use here, but the moderators might not like it. Lol

Just east of the main boat ramp about a half mile. South Bank area.



Side Note: Met Ryan Wags today. He is a super person and I enjoyed talking with him about fishing. While talking with him he landed a bass off of a tree line.

Thanks guys for the replies. Several buddies of mine fished late Friday and Saturday and did well on both days. Two separate boats. Late Friday they boated 9 with the largest going at 7.5 pounds. Saturday they boated 14 with two going over six pounds. Both anglers stated that the fish are fat and seem to be carrying eggs. All were released.Fish were caught on soft plastics in 12 feet of water holding by brush piles and drop offs. Just thought to give you guys an update.




Side Note: It will interesting to see how this latest weather change will effect the bite.

Side Note: A very good friend of mine fished Dunlap this past weekend and did pretty good. Boated nine in four hours with the biggest going right at 8 pounds. He said he caught them close to the second island using soft plastics. He also said he had a 6 and 5 pound fish as well. He released all of em to fight again.
