I am thinking about going after some catfish (blues or channel) at either Tawakoni, Richland Chambers, or might even try Fairfield. Any reports and or suggestions? I truly appreciate any information.

Of those three I will always pick Tawokoni--
I know folks catch nice fish out of the other ones, but the pics don't lie about Tawok.
Pretty much the same drive from where we are.

Is it true that R. Chambers has length limits on catfish? between certain lengths fish have to tossed back in?

I heard this yesterday.

LOTS of Blues and Channels in the timber on the Richland Arm of RC! 20'-30' deep on Danny Kings Punch Bait has been the ticket. Anyone interested in loading the freezer with Catfish Filets, give us a call! smile

Good Luck!

Royce or Adam,

Which arm is the Richland arm of RC. Is it north of the 287 bridge or south. I have only been on the river once. Also, what should I be looking for to know I am in the right places.

The Chambers Arm is the one with the Hwy 287 Bridge over it. The Richland Arm is the other arm. Look for timber with Commorants hanging out in it. Kinda hard to explain where to go as the lake is the 3rd largest inland lake in the State at 45,000 acres and 320 miles of Shoreline. We've been catching most of our fish in THICK timber about 5 miles up the Richland Arm on the North side of the Creek. You won't see any other boats on the Lake as a general rule so just do the best you can and bet you find a fish or two. Watch out for tall timber at water level as the lake is 7' low and a bit dangerous. RC is loaded with Catfish and Timber!

If all else fails, book a trip with us and we'll show you more about RC in a Half Day than you can learn on your own in a couple of years. Right now, we're offering a 3 Person Trip for the 2 Person Rate thru February.

Good Luck!

Thanks,

I spoke with the biologist for Fairfield yesterday. Don't waste your time there. There has only been 1 redfish(31 inches) and a few bass caught in the last few weeks. If you want talipia go there and bring a flat bed to haul them all the lake is full of them.

Thanks for the information. My wife and I are planning the trip for Saturday and plan to use shrimp, stinkbaits, punch baits. I was wondering if you have had any luck catching blues on cut shad and if so, is there anywhere near there to catch them. If I measured correctly, you are talking about fishing timbers around the powerlines and the railroad bridge. I understand if you don't want to give this info. up. I have fished RC with another guide and a time or two by myself. First time for winter catfish. Wouldn't mind hooking a large blue if luck be with me. Thanks for all you help so far. I hope to see you out there.

John
