I decided to crappie fish tomorrow instead of the coast. I have decided that it is going to be Luce Bayou, the San Gabe river or the Yegua. Thought I would wait on the reports from the Yegua, then figure out which one...Lawton

Yegua was cold (water) and tough fishing.. Caught about 16 crappie but only three keepers.

Thanks for the report. Fishing was slow on the Trinity as well. We ended up catching about ten really solid White Bass, but the bite was very sporadic. The only way we could catch them was by trolling crank baits. The frustrating part was that we were marking tons of fish all the way up and down the river, but couldn't get them to eat. I think in another few weeks, with some warming temps, the fishing will be awesome there.

look for the peaks on the solunar tables to line up with weather events to better predict best fishing times. I have noticed a loose correlation with these tables and wildlife activities especially with deer.

When it comes to fishing dumb luck doesn't often trump time spent on the water truly learning the fish you are after. Learning from history is essential in being successful even when it is about fishing. During the Texas drought of 2011 on the September day Bastrop went up in flames, I was hiking up the dry Yegua creek recording the event for my blog. Severe drought and extremely hot weather had dried up everything all around the state. These dry conditions gave a view of the creek usually hidden under a few feet of water and letting this old fisherman see what he had been passing up for years. Lesson learned.

Looks like Saturday is going to be a good weather day again! Anyone want to make a run down to the creek? Or would any of you be interested in making a kayak (float) trip down the Colorado at Bastrop instead?
