Went fishing this morning and was shocked to see all the dead and dying starfish on the beach. Also saw many tiny sea slugs lying with the starfish and dying on the beach. Was it the cold front that caused it or what? Didn't get any bites while there either. water was cold.

Sea stars use sea water in their veins instead of blood. But there are many varieties and all have different temperature tolerances.
Based on the non normal temperatures, I would suspect that the water just got too cold for them although there is always the possibility that something poisonous to them ended up in the water.
Fishing in general has been pretty slow, so I am pretty sure that water temps are having a big effect on the whole fishery.
I am worried about the snook down South, a few years back Florida had a snook cold kill that took a few years of no keepers for it to recover.

Thanks for the info, Pferox. I knew someone on this forum would come to my rescue and answer my question. I still feel bad for all those starfish dying and there was nothing I could do to save any of them even tho I threw some in the water, they would just wash back up with the next wave. UGH.
