I thought these were silly when they first came out. After I fished a couple of days out of them, I was totally impressed. No comparison to any other kayak I've tried for stand up fishing and at only 31 inch beam when stabilizers retracted, it paddles much easier than the 34 to 36 wide boats. Compared to others I have tried, this is like fishing from a seawall. rolfmao

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Thanks for all the replies folks. Looks like I've got some research to do!

Give the santa cruz raptor a try. Easyly as stable as any coosa or cuda and faster than most listed above. Price wise it is just over $1000. Plus its only 64 lbs. I am 6' and 190.

As someone who had a Coosa for a year, I would say they aren'tall they are cracked up to be. Can you stand in them? Yes, but i was never comfortable doing it. The frontier 12 is extremely stable, and should be a top contender if standing is important to you.

I think I'm going to go with the Jackson Cuda 12. Looks like a solid kayak for that price range.

What K&C said. My Coosa was just ok. More the brand than anything for me. My F10 outperforms the Coosa by a mile, at least for me.

crs1012 - just make sure you paddle as many as you can before buying. The Cuda is a great boat but not for everyone. If standing is important to you (it was for me since I'm a fly fisherman), go test out the KC and Frontiers. I'm certain you will like them both.
