Heard good things about this lake for LMB. I hear it is a must visit lake and I am thinking about heading out there next month. Any suggestions/ tips? I found this pretty quick on youtube

I hadn't seen this one and didn't realize Chris Coufal was a celebrity angler. Cool stuff!!
I will be fishing from a kayak so as you imagine the manual propulsion will limit the distance we can travel and the amount of water we can cover. Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions! I will make sure to report our findings for anyone interested. cheers

Personally I like Coleto Creek (down the road about 45 min from Fayette) better for kayaking. Fayette is a rounder shaped lake as opposed to a more narrow lake in Coleto that lends itself better to kayaks. Same type water, plants, etc in each. Heading to Coleto with my yak this weekend.

Either way you go...good luck!

my buddy and I stopped there once on the way back from Falcon, tore 'em up, there was a kayaker there, he was having a heck of a day also, from what I saw; we stayed around trees and caught a lot of bass - did venture out by the damn, but ... we like the trees.

haha......I'm no celebrity angler for sure! smile I was out there last week and the bite was still shallow....5-10ft on plastics in the timber. Here's a tip for Fayette......pick a depth and work out from there. Once you catch a few fish, that is usually the depth they are at all around the lake. Timber usually always produces and there is timber in 3ft to 20ft of water.

Thanks guys! I'm really looking forward to this trip. Feel free to pm me if you don't feel comfortable sharing publicly but where would y'all suggest staying and launching around the lak? Most of us will be in Hobie PA14s so we don't mind putting in a good distance just don't want to go into it blind. Does anyone having map suggestions I am running insightUSA and I don't think that lake was listed. What do y'all use? We are thinking of fishing 3-4 days so we gotta figure out where to rest up too

Yak FinAddic - I have fished Fayette since 1990 and always caught a ton of fish out of there. The lake holds alot of good bass, not uncommon to land 10 - 20 slot bass in a day. Fish the timber across from the prairie park boat ramp or work the shoreline to the right of oak thicket park boat ramp until you get to the standing timber across from prairie park, its a nice haul to the timber in a kayak but worth it. Along the way fish all the timber, you wont be disappointed. If you are looking for a place to stay, the cabins at oak thicket are really nice. Throw whatever your comfortable with and you will catch fish. I throw a Strikewinder helical spinnerbait but then again I manufacture them, large worms or lizzards are very good too.

Good luck and good fishin!
