On white bass.
I've always like playing around with the flyrod in the creeks for brim and want to try it on the river for sandies. Is there a particular setup yall like to use, technique I need to know about? I was reading over the flies for whitebass thread so that helped. How does water clarity affect your choice in fly? Any info would be helpfull.

Nothing special required, I use a floating 5wt with one of those sink tips added and an 8 lb tippet.

Paul has you on it; I use a 5 foot sink tip with a 7.5 foot leader; usually fish a clouser in white or yellow; and a "caddo clouser" like the one shown below or just a jig fly with some white rabbit for a tail-p- jigfly

As you can see from my post on this issue I don't catch many sand bass or hybrids during the run. but I fish full float In all the creeks I fish tell you the truth I have a sink tip in my vest pocket it's never been used. And to throw off even more people on here. I use an indicator 95% of the time on sand bass. Especially in the early season. The few people I know on here at least in the flyfishing section have seen my reasoning. Yes I am sure there are times when a sink tip is needed but I have just not found them. Oh and by the way when fishing the indicator I am using a nine foot leader with two feet of 8lb invisix floro for tippet yes that's correct 11-12 foot leader. As too clues as to why the indicator do a search on dead sticking winter hybrids And stripers especially within the forum. But to each his own one of my really good friends is a 7.5 sink tip guy and he does really well too. All I'm saying is dont keep a narrow mind as there are more than one way to skin a cat:). Good luck.

Robert makes a good point, more than one way to catch a sand bass. I'll try a floating line and then put on a sinking tip leader and just see what works best that day.
