I take fishing too seriously to put up with a no show or someone who's late or cancelling at the last minute.
Plus those guys tend to be the ones that if they don't get on fish right away, they lose interest and start making comments about maybe calling it a day. Some of my best days start out slow and I've got no time for whining from the back of the boat.
I sound kind of harsh but that's the way I feel.

Had a buddy who was always late 15-30 mins for our departure to fish or hunt. I told him my time was just as valuable as his and the next time he was more than 15 mins late, I was leaving without him. He was and I did. He's never been late again.

I only get to fish a couple times a month, I have had the same thing happen to me more than once. If they want to come along, I tell them if they are late don't bother. I'm done waiting on people, my fishing time is too valuable.

you get 15 mins after I launch, if not there then maybe next time. I have found the best way is make them meet you at the house or at theirs, if not there in time then c yaaaaaaaaaaaa.
I hate being late for anything, and do not appreciate those that cause me to be late either.

I got stuck at the railroad tracks (long coal train that stopped) one time going to meet up on a guided trip to Ray Bob at Jordan Park, when we showed up, the guide chewed our butts out, 10 minutes late. He kept making that excuse as to why we were having such a crappy day. I mean really! I felt bad enough, but to rub it in all day! I'm normally 20 to 30 minutes early - especially when it comes to going on a guided trip. So yes I do give the benefit of doubt once.

I don't tend to put a time limit or let much fluster me with my recreational activities. Makes it too much like my job and that isn't fun. If it isn't someones number one top priority to be punctual or even early to go fishing with me and be graced by my presence on the water I don't let it bother me one bit.

I knew a guy (who we will call Bill) in the bass club I belonged to in Houston. Bill asked another member (who we will call Clarance) to fish with him in an upcoming tournament. We were going out of Twin Dikes boat ramp. The morning of the tourament when Bill showed up at the ramp in his motorhome, the first thing we noticed was NO BOAT. Clarance looked at me and said, Oh [censored], was I suppose to bring my boat". When Bill got out of his motorhome we asked, "Where is the Boat?" He gave us a deer in the headlight look and said, "Oh, [censored], I forgot it a home." I ended up letting both of them fish in my boat. But I would bust out laughing everytime I would look at Bill in the back of the boat. Incase you are wondering, Bill liked to drink, ALOT

Can't find many folks to fish with, eh? Smart man. You got it. I'm always ready to fish at a moment's notice but I don't expect anyone else to be as enthusiastic as myself. I have about three people who I fish with regularly and a few who I'll go with rarely. One of those three is 100% reliable and he's my dad. The other two are pretty reliable and always enjoyable and you know who you are.

I was taught early in life there are two things you should never be late for,
Church and Fishing!
