1/23/14 - Spawn spawn and spawn. Fish are in all modes of the spawn and are spawning far into the flooded cover. The approaching cold front might slow the move but many fish are currently very shallow and spawning. The past week the spinnerbait continues to be my best bait but we caught fish cranking, flipping, and on top. Our largest bass was 8.14lbs. The water temp is averaging 60 but should drop over the next few days if the polar front makes it to Zapata. Water Level is 25.41 feet below full pool of 301.20.

I will be there Thursday night so post a report or two. supposed to get another cool snap between now and then. the big girls should start staging soon but will hold deeper with all this cool weather.

Falcon those are huge! Nice fish!

Went to Falcon this weekend since it was going to warm up and really was looking forward to it. Temp was almost 83 degrees when I came in after fishing for 8 solid hours. ONE BITE ALL DAY!!!!!! Fished from Velano to Tigers on both sides of the lake and never found squat!! Water temps at 56--58 degrees lakewide! Jigs,cranks,worms, shallow,deep,slow,fast---NADA!!!!!! I think there's something else going on with Falcon besides water temp. Been fishing Falcon for 25 years and never seen it this bad!! What say you!!!!!

Fished there Friday and Saturday first time to falcon and not a bite.
