Two guys in a 16 foot down by the dam keep trying to start there motor and it Would not start and no one would go over and ask them if they needed help. So my fishing partner went over to them and asked them if they needed tow to the ramp. And they said it would be great if we could so we threw them a rope and pulled them back to the ramp. They did not even have a trolling motor battery that work to troll back to the ramp and he said he knew he had carb problems before he got on the lake but he still ran all the way down to the dam. I just do not understand some people. But i was just happy to haul them back to the ramp because i would want someone to do the same for me. And too all the other boats on the lake that seen the in trouble i think it is against the law not to help someone in touble on the lake if i am not mistaken. O well I hope someone would do the same for me!!

It is against the law and poor sportsmanship to leave anyone stranded on the water. It's good you extended a hand or they may not have made it in. Kudos..

I blew the same engine 3 times on Fork and all three times I had put in @ Rainswood and made it almost to the 515 bridge I trolled all the way back with out ever getting the first offer to tow me in.....I towed some guys from out of state back to Rainswood and I pulled over to help them as soon as I realized they had trouble. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.........That's just the way I was brought up.....

Manners and sportsmanship has been cut out for some reason not sure. I helped a guy at the boat ramp I had just unloaded and he backed down and had a rope tied on and his boat drifted off.he forgot to tie his boat off to his rig. I told him to hop in and I took him to his boat. If that happened to me I would want help not a bath. That's why I only fish a little bass club. any one will drop fishing to come help one another. One guy ran out of motor oil so the other quit fishing and went back to the ramp got his spare gallon and came back gave it to him and went back fishing. That's sportsmanship.

If you are out on the water in your boat and you see someone that is broken down; help them. There will come a time when you will need the same help.

If everyone would treat everyone the same way they wanted to be treated in all situations, this world would be a better place.

I was duck hunting about 8 years ago on Bob Sandlin, dropped my buddies off at the ramp and rode back to get my hunting bag that was about 15 minutes away. I ran out of gas on my way back and didn't have cell service. 2 hours later my buddies talked a guy who just got done fishing to go looking for me. I don't know that I could have ever paddled all the way in against the wind. Still glad to this day that guy was willing to go looking for me even with high winds moving in.

I did this for a couple guys on Ray Roberts. Towed them from Lick to Jordan, then drove them over to the marina to get their trailer so they could get back to Jordan to pick up their boat. I had not been on water long and it was a cold gray cloudy day and evening was approaching. Ruined my fishing but felt like I did what I was supposed to do. Not sure there is a worse feeling than being stranded.

You re absolutely right, no worse feeling than "Being Stranded".
We've all been there at one time or another, its the nature of our sport/hobby.

Was pre fishing cedar creek few years ago when it had just flooded. There where very few boats on the lake. Blew a part on my oil injector keeped fishing on the Tm. a guy finally pulled into the cove and ask how we were doing told him what was going on he towed us four miles back to the ramp and had called his buddy that had a shop on the lake and he was waiting with the part when we got I the ramp. I deffinatly gave him some business that day and we kept fishing. That one of those karma things that will come back to you I have towed two on fork and one on ivie. Will do it again in sure as I am sure I will need a pull at some point my self. Glad you could help them.

BINGO!!!

I sometimes can't understand why this concept is so hard, then I remember the forces of evil are very powerful and almost always disguised.

I'll be forever grateful to the gentleman in the Red Tracker that towed me out of Wolf Creek and back to the Jordan ramp when my carb floats stuck on the main motor and my trolling motor wouldn't work. I keep a rope just in case I have the opportunity and privilege of helping tow someone else in.

I blew a lower unit about 2 miles from the ramp at takeoff for a tourney, every boat in my club that passed me could see that I was having a problem but kept going (I quit fishing that club very soon after). a guy in a nitro came by while I was on the trolling motor fighting wind and asked if I was ok (was in the middle of the lake), towed me in and refused gas money.

I carry plenty of rope to tow and will if someone needs it.

sidenote, if you are broke down and in need tie a white rag (or any rag etc.) to your paddle and wave it in the air, this should get someone over to help.

also I am moving to fork, will be living at fishermans cove, if you see this champion and need help (sorry but your not gonna get my gps info) wave me over or hit the horn etc. I will come to ya if I can see ya.

or a white towel or rag to your rear light pole, I also carry an air horn, some guys just don't look to see if your broke down,...also ropes and jumper cables
are mandatory accessories for me..

Several years ago I was fishing a tournament out of Jackson Hill Marina. On the morning run to 5 fingers snapped the crankshaft on my 150 evinrude right at the mouth of Veach. A guy in a 15 ft bass tracker with a 35 hp motor stopped and offered help. I asked him to just run me to the nearest ramp and I would hitch a ride back to Jackson Hill. He said "Nope, couldn't do that. I will pull you to Jackson Hill". 1-1/2 hrs later we pulled into the marina. He ran out of gas in one gas can and switched over to the spare towing us in. I offered him money to cover the gas he burned. He said fill up my gas tanks and we will call it even. Did not ever get his name, but since that day I have NEVER passed anyone broke down since. Even if I am fishing a tournament.

Just a few months ago a guy in a sail boat was waving at me on Hubbard out from Robertsons park (where to red boys are ) He was stuck so he tied the rope from the top of his sail to my anchor rope and I pull him side ways so his kiel would lift off the rocks and started moving. He was so excited to get help and wanted to pay me. I was happy to help. I have been towed before.. It happens.
