Anybody been out there lately? I know the water level is actually high now but how are the fish responding to it? Has the bite been slow?

If the water holds, get ready! It should have the best spawn in YEARS!!!

Well i went today. Spent 7 hours on the water and didnt even get a bite. Went shallow to deep and everywhere in between. Rocks, humps, points, grass, tried it all. NOTHING. water temp stayed 47-50. It was terrible. On the plus side a couple guys were fishin Alley creek bridge beside us, we leftfor 20 minutes, came back and BAM one of the guys caught a 10lber. Said it was there first and only bite. Id take that any day! Congrats to him for a monster!

LOP is my favorite lake even though I don't get to fish it much. As far as my experience it sucks in the winter for numbers, but will produce giants. It should be on this spring!!!

I agree with Bass Busting , if the water level stays up she will turn out a good spawn.

Let's go fishing

I live on the lake and I can tell you that it has already dropped 3 or 4 inches in the last two weeks. Just give them some time, they (COE) will f@&k it up.

I keep seeing post about letting water out of pines to keep caddo full. As of 5 pm today Caddo is full at 169.30. That is actually .80 over normal pool. So, my question is this, do they have to have a continuation of water released from Pines to maintain that level ? Just curious ?

My guess is they have open the gates to 1500 CFS to try and float some of the salvania out of caddo over the spillway seems as how according to their conservation pool pines is above full and in their eyes can afford to loose some.... but that's just my opinion and personally after fishing pines the last two years really low I was kinda starting to like because it position the fish very well

itit didn't seem to make finding fish easier with the levels low however I feel like it hurt this hurt the spawn the past few years quite a bit. If you look at the kykx tournament the weights have been lower than average and I believe that has alot to do with it. So hopefully the level stays up atleast through spawn this year. Im prayin for it anyways

It would take a great flood to wash that over the dam at Caddo. I don't think that is the plan for Salvania. They are breading bugs fast as they can. There was another article in the Longview News Journal a week or so ago.

BTW The dam/river flows into the Red River. I heard it's getting choked out as well.

So glad the lake is back up and if it stays up the fish will get a good spawn. The lake is in need of a good spawn, the low water has really hurt the lake. But, in my opinion get ready for some real tough fishing this year if the lake stays up. Thank God it is up though.
