I have over 300 brush piles on my home lake, i learned quick but i learned the hard way....It aint a secret spot if you show someone! You have to figure out what you want, do you want alot of "BUDDIES" that like fishing with you becuase you have spots and can catch fish or do you want to be able to go catch fish every trip you make. I take people and we fish good spots but i have some spots I fish by myself. Good luck

A man who has to keep secrets is a man who is hiding something,
A man who is afraid his secret may one day be known.
So what is a man hiding in his secret spot? Most will say " fish" but what is he really hiding?
The fear of someone else catching fish? The fear that someone else may out fish him?
Is he hiding a secret that deep down he doesn't have the confidence in his ability to find more fish? Or that someone else besides himself would enjoy the feeling of reeling in a fish?
Maybe he is hiding the fact that he is selfish and doesn't want to share the reward of the catch
With someone less fortunate , someone who doesn't have the time he does to scout harder and fish longer days than He? Maybe he is hiding the fear that his joy maybe stole and his reward will be rendered to someone less deserving? I say maybe this man has yet to learn the true meaning of fishing, or yet has forgotten the heritage that was passed down from generations of fishermen who SHARED their knowledge and passion so others one day might partake in the beauty of seeing the smile frozen in time,of that fisherman who proudly holds his trophy for a photo, to remind him of the joy it was to catch such fish.

For the record , I had to learn the true joy of fishing is not always being the one that catches the fish , but being a part of the catch is. If I can show a person a spot where he can catch a fish and he does, it brings me joy as if I had caught it myself. And yes I , in the past have had " secret spots " I also lost my joy for fishing. Those of you that know me know what I'm talking about. I've been away from fish for over a year and just now have had the desire to fish again. Guys don't let a simple fishing spot create a trust factor in your relationship with others. You took the guy fishing obviously you enjoy his company, enjoy the fact that he is catching fish because you helped him find them.

None of us was born knowing how to fish or where to fish, someone had to show us almost everything. Imagine if everyone took the secrecy attitude about every new fishing innovation, and you only knew about what you personally had invented and learned! Where would the sport of fishing be?


share it, share it all, and we can all grow in our enjoyment of the sport! Dont be secretive and selfish, these are the hallmarks of fear and insecurity!

My favorite thing about secret spot is when someone shows me one and I have been fishing it and catching
fish on it for 50 years. It is hard for me to believe secret spot in any of the metro mess lakes. Been
pretty well covered in all the years so I say just go fish.

P.S. Bro Terry tells people me and my buddies dug EM with shovels so if that is true I sure know everybodys secret spot cause I dug it. We all know a Preacher tells only the truth. LOL

Took my brother to one of those spots and the next day their he was in the spot my wife and I pulled up and started fishing we caught our limit and then offered him some fish remember, What goes around comes around.

Todays secret spot is tomorrows empty spot, catch em while they're there, everyone knows that spot. If you want a secret spot, spend the time and money to buy the land, build a lake , and grow the fish. Now you got a secret spot. Watch out for poachers.
