Thumping/Calling on a Pontoon?!
I have been on a guided trip where we thumped on a fiberglass center console but has anyone tried or done on a pontoon?

I do not listen to animals but do what the dog and duck say. Write a report after! Technically, it's banging on the pontoon. And if you change your title to such, you may get a little traction on the discussion.

Use an axe with a long handle and try to keep it below the water line. Let us know how it works out for you.

The banging theory doesn't work, please don't try it. People will think you're boat is broken.

Don't know about on a pontoon. Like Luv to Fish stated, it might sound like a distress signal. It does work on my Sea Pro CC. It's easier to thump a shovel handle on the bottom than it is to beat the water with a rod. It's also cheaper than replacing a TM with a Sunshine Splasher on it after it flies off the boat in rough water and sinks to 50 feet.
