Is this a good unit, It is new still in box so any insite on this Lowrance unit. Will it need updated to work right? I just bought it came with LSS-1 StructureScan Imaging Module
LSS-1 Imaging Tranducer .

It is a great unit. Yes it will need to be updated to the latest software to get the best performance. I'm running Gen I units and have seen no reason to invest all the bucks in the new stuff as it isn't that much better.

Thanks for the info.I had a HDS8 Gen-2 a while back so just was not sure about the Gen-1 . I think the HDS5 will be just fine for me so I just have to research how to update it as you talked about.

Ok I found I need to update to HDS Gen-1 4.1 update. If theres a newer update let me know.

Register your new unit on the Lowrance website and then when you log in it will allow you to see if you need to update. It's very easy to do.

Thanks I will and as you say then I will see what they have, I just bought it but it was new in the box never opened he said he had it in his garage for a few years but I think he never Register it.
