I'm a high school kid and I'm getting ready to fish a tournament on monticello.I was wondering if anyone has tried fishing south of the discharge? There will be 100+ boats so I figure everyone will be fishing by the discharge and I wanted to get away from the other boats. Or has anyone had luck on the pads flipping? Comment or pm me. I would appreciate it.

Don't know a thing about Monticello; but every discharge lake, we have caught great fish on the first heavy rocks just down the bank form the discharges.

In two of the lakes that would the the big rock on the dam. They are always at the depth of where the rock ends and the dirt begins. Use 1 oz. jigs. You better take several, you will be losing them.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Check the Honey Hole Outdoors web site. The past two shows have been on Monticello
if I remember correctly.

The water is only warm at the discharge, which is north of the bridge. The temperatures at the north end will fall significantly as you head away from the discharge. The last time I was one the lake the northern timber areas in Blundell Creek were in the upper 40's, the discharge was 64.

The flow of warm water will be towards the south end of the lake where the intake is located.
I would spend some time fishing the points at the intake and the rip rap immediately north of the intake. the point directly across the lake from the intake and reed filled bank to the south all the way to the dam can be an excellent place to fish.

The pads have not been very consistent the past few months for me, but we had a few good days fishing deep into them. The lakes high water level really scattered the shallow fish into the overabundance of cover.
