Was an odd catch. I was about 12 and fishing for catfish in Oklahoma with chicken guts. I guess as I reeled in to check my bait it looked tasty to a bass.

1st Bass on a lure: Cotton Cordell Spot. 8 or 9 years old... Tied the knot all by myself too...

Pico Perch back in the summer of 1956. Using a Plueger Summit reel and a Heddon glass rod. Got a backlash and while i was getting it out the lure went to the bottom. When I started reeling again and the bass struck. The next cast I did the same thing and caught a 3 lb. channel cat.

Hawaiian Wiggler ! Thrown under the overhanging willow trees in Clarksville, TX, with my cousin and his Dad. That started it! I was probably 14 YOA. I'll never forget it! For you guys too young to know what I'm talking about:

A small one on Fork, on a freezing day, with a soft worm that my uncle left on my pole because I did not even know how to put a worm on the hook straight, so I just left it on. I kept hoping that worm would last forever because it was all I had.
