I have a 16 foot lowe bass boat and have noticed over the past few years that it seems to have less power than the year before. I have a Minn Kota 55lb TM that is about 10 years old. Since the is a deep V boat, I was curious if I could gain power by having the prop further in the water or if it was time to switch. I constantly run it on 4 out of 5 as 1-3 are too slow to move the boat unless the lake is like glass. I don't have room for an extra battery so that is a problem as well. Curious to see what your thoughts are. Thanks

First off is you battery good? Does it have enough reserve capacity to last all day? Have you pulled the prop and checked for line buildup behind it. If the answer to those is yes then your motor may be in need of new brushes or being replaced. Lowering the unit will help pull in windy conditions but that is not what you are describing.

Battery is a 31 group with plenty of reserve capacity. I have had it for 2 years now. Maybe I should change that to see if it helps. Thanks for the tip

Make sure you take the prop off and check it too. That is the first thing I would do.
