I saw recently that a group from here went to Venice and did some red fishing... I am trying to put together a trip for some friends and myself and would like to know your experiences - good and bad.. Some questions * Is 1st of June a good time to go for red #s and bull reds? *Good Guide? Price? *Good lodging? Price? *Do we stay in Venice or another parish?

This was our Tuna fishing guide, Kevin Beach, phone number is 505-451-3886. We went in mid October, I do not know how it will be in June. Here is a number for the Venice Marina, 505-534-9357. Here are a few pics from our trip.

Hot Summertime best for Bull Reds. Have been with MLC Guide Svce and Fish Intimidator. Both ok. Both have lodging there.

The lodging at the Venice marina was excellent and you have your own personal boat dock. Once we unloaded the boat the first day we never loaded back up until the last day when we left. They also have a restaurant at the marina that will probably seat 100 people and the food was excellent.

If you are not dead set on Venice, I would recommend Delacroix for both Bulls and #'s. It is not too far from Venice.I have fished both frequently and Delacroix has produced every time. Gerry Gleuck is the guide I have used on more than one occasion. He set us up in a house by the ramp. Price depended on # of people.

My dad is an offshore guide out of sargent tx, I highly recommend him. You WILL catch fish and his prices are very reasonable compared to most guides, he does it as a hobby not as a means of making money. https://www.facebook.com/ReveilleSportfishing

I have been going to Venice for about 8 years. I would not recomend June 1st. The river will be very high and look like chocolate milk and the reds will not be concentrated. You will probablly need to travel to Red Fish Bay or someplace on the south east side of the area that will be the clearest water. The best time for reds and all even offshore fish is October. If you want to go in spring wait until Red Snapper opens and get some of them you can get to snapper rigs in pretty small boats on nice days. If i was going with a group i would stay on a houseboay in the marina it is a lot nicer and in the end will be cheaper. I usually stay at: http://www.vrbo.com/375830 but that is going booked all summer. There are other houseboats that are great as well just search around the internet. There is a lot of good fishing at the rigs that are close in from 20-100 feet of water that time of year. If you are looking for Tuna that time of the year your going to have to travel a long way to get to blue water.
