call the Venice Marina and ask for #'s of the houseboats for rent. we stayed in one last year and it was as nice as my home. it was about $250 a day. they can put you on a guide also. we went in July, but i think the fall is a better time for reds. hope this helps

We were there in August during a rainy couple of days, didn't have any issues catching limits, plus lots of throwbacks and some oversized fish. We fished with Dan Dix of MidLife Crisis charters. He has a cool little headquarters where his clients can stay.
When I lived in Lafayette, we would always go during October, right around Halloween. And used to stay in one of the houseboats at Venice Marina. There aren't any houseboats at Cypress Cove Marina anymore, they caused a bunch of damage during Katrina so the marina didn't let any of them back in.
Basically there isn't a bad time to go to Venice to catch reds, especially if you have a good guide, they can put you on the fish.

Hoop are other guides recommended.Fall is best for reds IMO but it should be on in June as well. Also some monster trout are caught in that area during May and June.

I've heard that January and February are the best months to pursue big reds on light tackle there, but I don't have any credentials there. I know that Scott Null (281/450-2206) and Jeremy Chavez (281/546-1393), both Texas guides, run light tackle and fly trips there in January and February for the bull reds. I know both of them personally and can can give both my hearty endorsement. I hope this helps.

You should be fine in June. I think (it was my bachelor party, so I wasn't really involved) we spent somewhere around $1400-1700 for two days of fishing for three guys, but we did stay at Dan's lodge for 2 nights as well.

There is no off season for Venice Redfish. It is honestly good every single month of the year. June is great because you can catch redfish AND Speckled Trout in the same general locations. Oddly enough you can catch your biggest reds while Trout fishing.
