lhd = longhaired-duck murder, now
The ONLY reason to fish with a fly rod in Texas is to throw a POPPER, casting any other type fly just means you're doing something.

Heck, I miss all that water. This is what that spot looks like today - . The smartest move was/is out of North Texas.

After just spending a week in MN, IL, and NY, I missed any water in its liquid form. I was just thinking this morning that I might find a way to play hooky this afternoon and sneak off to Sooper Seekrit Stockpond #7. Small water fishing can still be good this time of year.

I was out in my waders Saturday morning just after sunrise. Despite the merino undergarments I desperately regretted my choice of fancy new Orivs nylon waders over my $50 neoprene Hodgeman waders. Still it was a beautiful day on the water. Actually caught a couple of fish too! A crawfish pattern inched along the bottom with sinking tip proved just the ticket despite early morning temps in the low 40's. These were probably my first LMB ever on fly in January.
