I've been fishing off and on pretty much all of my life. A few years ago I got my own boat and I fish as much as possible. Although I do fairly well, I'm so tired of constantly beating the bank every time I go and want to learn to fish deep. I have good electronics and I try to use them to the best of my abilities, (I have a LOT to learn) but I've been unsuccessful. I find areas where it looks like fish and some sort of structure, but I never catch anything and end up going back to the bank. I know there is a ton of information on the internet, but I was just wondering if there is a really good web site or any articles that you have found to be especially helpful.

Hey Rock it sounds like you have a big investment there. I don't think there is any substitute for fishing with a guide when fish are deep. Reading articles is great, but when you are with the guide and have a chance to ask questions and try out some different patterns it's the difference between reading book and taking a class. Find someone who runs your same electronics, there will surely be something you will want to tweak in your setup based on what they show you. I always tell my buddies Mark Pack or James Niggemeyer will teach you deep water techniques that will change your life Good luck!!!

It's far from home for you but you could make it a weekend...to gain confidence in fishing deep without having to pay a guide I'd go to Fayetteville Co Lake. Love the 20-24 foot jig bite and carolina rigging there. There is a lot of deeper water structure like road beds, foundations, and main lake points to survey if you have good electronics. Lot of fish to be had in that place.

I'll take you on Broken Bow, clear water, deep and lots of fish in 40 foot plus if you can make them bite. I'll just charge you lunch.

Wait until summer and hire a guide at Falcon. Once they start pulling water and the fish move deep, there are tons of places down there to catch deep fish and get confidence, that is if those fish ever start biting again....

Darold Gleason on Toledo Bend is who I would recommend. Especially in the Summer.

Google The Fishing Schools Will Kirkpatrick on Sam Rayburn. He is affordable and has been on Rayburn almost 30yrs. He holds week long classes on specific subjects. Great guy!

Fayettte this time of year for sure. Deep water found near the discharge, tons of willing fish there. For learning electronics, like said, go out with a guide or see if one will come with you.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I'll look into some of these for sure. No doubt, I'll have to learn a lot more about using my electronics.
