I'm headed that way Saturday myself. I sure hope the bites on and we don't get blown off the lake.

Headed there this morning. Pootie called me yesterday & said he had a few days off. I've been wanting to do the deep water dam thing for quite some time. Not feeling up to par, but can't pass the offer.
Got my fingers crossed that the full moon & shifting winds don 't shut the bite off. Barometric pressure is steady, so that's a plus thumb

I've planned 3 trips to pines and never can seem to make it. This 17mph wind forecasted for Saturday scares me. I'm not sure my little 16ft aluminum boat could stand that on the open lake. Grrrr

It is great to be able to fish the different lakes in this area. Years ago I fished Benbrook, Fork, Grapevine, Pat Cleburne and many of the other local lakes. But those days of mobility are over.

I can't launch boats anymore so I am restricted to fishing Joe Pool, where I keep my boat in a slip.

But I do enjoy reading about the other areas, even if I can't fish them anymore. I do miss fishing Fork, as it was my second best crappie lake. smile

Anything over 10 isn't good out by the dam. I would stay home and wait for the wind to lay.

The wind was horiffic ysterday in the am!!!
Found out some low-life had helped themselves to my new tags on my boat trailer 1st off the bat. Got there about 9:30 or so & it was white capping. Then I discovered that both of my electric anchors only have about 25' of anchor line in them, so they were useless. Now I need to take the covers off them & see if there is enough room to install longer ropes.
So we were forced to use the trolling motor all day. Practically impossible to fish with the high west winds, but later the winds shifted to more northward & layed somewhat. Started catching fish then. I was really impressed with the amount of fish I saw on the graph!!!!! The fish were holding on the edges in 30+ fow where it was dropping deeper.
Pootie told me that the larger the bait, the more fish, which like Texoma shallow fish in the summer, I had to see for myself. He was right, crappie on Slab Bugs, yellow bass on Lil' Frys. We only ended up with 20, some of them very nice pushing 2 lbs. We quit at 4 so I would be able to hang my boat back up in the stall before dark
The only other guys we saw doing good were dropping minnows, but there could have been some that did good early, as the lake cleared out a couple of hours after we got there, which I presumed was due to the 3' rollers!
I def want to get back there soon!
