that boat takes 45 minutes just to break the tip of Jetties and that is about 8 miles from the yacht basin. 120 miles is a very far trip out. I run my bayboat out from texas city dike and doing 45, get to the first rigs our about 20 miles in about 1.5 hours.

it only took 45 seconds for his weight to hit the bottom.. guessing roughly 2' per second of fall rate... that's about 90' deep. The were probably out around 40 miles.

Need to run a straighter line. In 1.5 hours if you went 40 mph you could be 60 miles from the dike. The rigs might be 20 miles from shore but miles down or up the coast.

enough is enough! Captain John's is the fastest catamaran in Galveston. It runs at 25 knots! which comes out to 28.7695 mph. If we ran for 4.5 hours before we stopped. you do the math 28x4.5=126 If you don't believe you take the 12 hour trip. Good luck and remember to have fun.

Your weight would have never hit the bottom at 100 miles out- sorry.

Not true, Skeeter, I've been on that trip almost every year for the last 10. We go out 100 miles and fish in 100 feet of water.

One big secret with offshore charters is they say they go 40 miles out and in reality it could be 30. They say 120 miles it could be 60. There is no way you can tell, due to not being able to bring your own gps unless you Just don't care and bring yours anyways. What was the water temp without googling it at 120 miles out? That will tell you how far out you were. Go threw 2 seasons going that far. Charters will tell you that far so you pay the fuel surcharge. They make a little in their pocket like people shipping stuff on ebay. Not all charters do this but some do.
