First time poster here, just joined the forum. Planning a trip to Raven this weekend...anyone have experience fishing there this time of year and have any tips? Forecast is mostly sunny, light winds, around 70 degrees (A.K.A. freaking beautiful).

Yeah sorry...I'm going to be bass fishing from the bank. And if Lake Raven is a no-go are there any other good bank fishing spots near College Station?

went there back in sept. fished the whole lake, didnt even get a bite! maybe just picked wrong day...have heard of some nice toads pulled outta that lake, there is two small peirs to fish off of.otherwise banks are not accessible...they do rent canoes, that may be the route to go as lake is pretty small and surrounded by tall pines,so wind is not a factor.otherwise you got lake bryan,or somerville.

there are the two piers, plus the "club" house terrace. I have caught some nice fish from that area. the canoe docks should be empty this time of year so that is another good spot. it is catch and release on large mouth bass, but all others are fair game. let us know how ya do

Mrs. and I where there 2-3 weeks ago. Nada bite and the few that I talked to while I was there had just as many bites as I did. Although one of them said he caught an owl. Not sure that counts though

Thanks for the information y'all. I'm taking some friends who are new to fishing and want them to catch, so I'm thinking we're gonna try Gibbons instead due to the bad reports on Raven. Thanks anyways though...I'll probly try Raven by myself in the next few weeks.

Raven seems to be an all or nothing lake to me. I hear reports of people fishing it all of the time without catching a thing then, boom, someone catches a 10-pounder. I personally have never caught numbers or size on this frustrating body of water.

I live in CS, just PM me. Fished Lake Bryan today and caught a couple, spinnerbaits and cranks beating up the riprap. I fish Raven, Gibbons, Bastrop, Fayette and Somerville most of the time, but there are good #s of bass in lake bryan when i only have a couple of hours to waste.
