We launched at Highport around 8am and called it off at 2pm. We looked in the channel by the islands, in front of Mill Creek, all through Big Mineral, back out in the channel to the 377 bridge, then all the way back to Highport. Not only did we not catch a fish, we never had one touch a fluke. Where are the stripers!

Pretty much my day as well on the stripers. I set a few jugs Friday evening and scored some nice blue cats for dinner tonight as a consolation.

And I know who "Jeff" is.

Mostly the same here, and i somewhat expected tough biting conditions until sunset, with the bluebird skies. however, stillll nice to be on the water and absorb some sun, even though the lake is being drained (with the draining there should be a good current and maybe fish on the main river channel east of Preston point). I launched at 1:00 (targeting a 5:30 sunset bite that never occurred). Looked for bait inside Hp, then ran west to load up on bait, as all my east lake spots have no water. Found a light wind out of the west, creating a light chop. Marked small groups of fish off the river channel, 1 mile east of the 377 bridge. If I had known that those would be the only fish I would see on the finder, I would have stayed or returned to target then for the evening. Found some really dirty water (38 degrees and 2 degrees cooler than surface temps in Highport). Loaded up on gizzards (many small 1" shad) then ran back to north east of the islands, and attempted to cut through the fist island pass north of Mill creek and watched depth drop from 40' to 2', Never seen it this shallow ( it appears you can walk between all the west islands).

Continued running east, marking no fish, did see lots of white pelicans), and recognized the wind was swirling/coming out of the north (forecast indicated west, southwest) I set up for a long drift a mile north of red river channel.

Was going to cove a lot of water around. and below the boat. Dropped down two live baits near 35' in 40' depth, dropped back one on a balloon, and set up for the slide with planers on the bow and stern. Then waited for sunset, the birds, the winds to stop, and the bite to turn on. Didn't mark any fish for 2 hours, and the only birds (2 dozen gulls) showed up 50 yards behind the boat after a cleaned 5 dozen floaters from the baittank (smaller bait is more difficult to keep alive).

Enjoyed the sunset, the lack of wind, and decided to break out another pair of surface planar boards for practice with the trolling motor, and maybe get a lucky surface bite watched the gulls move toward the northeast.

Got on the water at 9 at Cedar Hill marina after not being able to launch alone at Juniper. Saw a guide boat pull in 2 over a few hours on the north shore around the bend just west of 377 bridge. Trolling up and down along the shore line. Had a warden stop me and he said a few boats pulled in some trolling along shore at Highport. I ran down there and no boats. Marked a few but no luck. Just a nice day on the water. Unfortunately 90 miles I s along drive for just a nice day on the water.

Same thing up north. Launched at Platter flats and there was nothing in there.Went up to Big and Little Glasses and there was nothing. Found some in dirty water outside Newberry creek but had no bites.Did not see anyone catch a fish all day.
Motor acted like it was clogged and would not start for 15 minutes, finally got it going and limped back home.....I think it is a bad fuel filter....

I was out as well. I found fish up in the coves in about 25 to 30 feet of water. Surface temperature was 41F. Maybe the shad were seeking some warmth off the rocks and the stripers followed them. I did not mark any fish in the main lake.

I see the comments on the water temps, does the days around the full moon have an effect as well?

I think the full moon always has an effect. But I'm not smart enough to know when it's good and when it's bad in the winter time.

I do know that in warmer weather the stripers will feed at night under a full moon and the next day is often tough when trying to entice them to feed.
