Does anyone have a fishing report from the La Mancha Lake Ranch on Lake Leon?

recently I aint heard nothing real good ....
but I bet someone will contest that report if I post it

I may have to do a recon trip next week. I'll let you know what comes of that.

well as most of the locals tell me the best time is the worst weather condition possible the better the fishing is. Or the day before a front or two days after a front has passed. Have not had to good of luck in my afternoon outings there. Early morning is better. Hope this help.

Limited out last weekend in 3 hours early in the morning.

The lake is almost full so I guess from shallow to the deep side would be 12-25 fow. Not sure what color on lures but bobby garland in monkey milk, blue ice and black/chart. are used often there.

Just got back fished from 600- 1100 went ate lunch and fished til 200, pretty morning, lots of shad every where, seagulls having a feast very feww fish caught handful of keepers, and some dinks maybe 10 people fishing, wind was perfect, one those pretty days with minimal thumps, still better than doing yard work, try try again! sorry it wasn't a good report, but at least someone gave one.Tryed every color combo I could, one guy fishing with minnows, still just no cooperation from them crappies. crazy weather patterns really messing them up. It seems to me like there isn't as much brush as last year.

Seen mohawks for the first time one guy caught 3, pretty fish but they were small

Thanks for the report joser. Wish you had caught more keepers, good report though. With the weather forecast for next week it may turn the slabs on.

We made the trip to La Mancha Lake Ranch on Lake Leon yesterday. We arrived at 9:45 am to find 4 other fishermen who had been there for a while. They had caught a good many crappie on both minnows and jigs. They had 3 baskets in the water with 10 to 15 keepers in each. For those who haven't been there, La Mancha has a boat dock for the camping guests to use and let people fish there for a $5 fee for the day. There were no boats there when we were so there was plenty of room for all to fish. There isn't a lot of brush there so hang ups weren't a problem. We caught a few fish before the cold front blew in about 11:00 am then it got pretty slow. Brought home 4 keepers of which I caught 1 and was given 3. All in all we enjoyed the outing though we didn't catch a lot of keepers. We'll make the trip again a little later in the year.
