I just called Calaveras and they said they are now charging $6 per person and $5 to launch a kayak, per day. I'm guessing if you want to go fish on that lake you have to pay it but that just seems crazy to me that for me and the girlfriend to go kayak fishing there it will cost $22. Is there any other access to that lake or are you just forced to pay ? Thanks for any suggestions.

I guess a person could put that $22 into the gas tank and trek on down the road to another lake, but then you probably wouldn't get that far, or catch many fish, or be able to just fish a couple hours and return. It's going to have some possitive effect in that it will cut back on the crowds I would think, so that to me would be worth the extra cost.
Just one more cast!

It nice they have a special deal for disabled veterans.
I would suggest you buy an annual permit if you go more than once a month. That breaks down to $23 per month for the family and boat permit. Then you could go as much as you wish each month.
If you have separate kayaks you could buy two individual year permits that breaks down to $27 per month.
Of course if you only go once a month then this would not be worth while to purchase.
I have bought the annual permit for the Texas State Park System for years now. It's not as expensive as this permit but if the lake is close to your house and the fishing is good then it should be worth it.

I have been buying annual permits since way back in the 70s when it was 30.00 for a family...I must be part owner in the lake by now. Money well spent !

Annual permit is definitely the way to go. I get for me and the boat. Pays for itself after 11 trips and I usually fish it 25 to 30 times a year. More if possible. Good luck
