Thanks Kingdad....
Not really worried, just self educating... Lol I don't know a darn thing about these boats and all... So that's how I can learn... From others mistakes!

Looks like that jack plate is tucked in. It looks angled from top to bottom to me. I know with some you can angle the plate to let you tuck the motor in for hole shot.

Yea I noticed that as well... It is basically just 2 pieces of 3/8" aluminum angle iron...
The way it is "tucked in" at the bottom does give you a lot more down trim... And less up or full trim...
I wonder if this is why I'm still only getting 50mph on this thing?
Today I took the boat to lake placid here by the house...
By moving the engine up the one inch like I did yesterday, I'm now able to get my RPM's up to the 5500 mark! GPS still never made it over 51-52... Even though I could see my splash was much further back than I've ever seen it. My "rooster tail" was a few feet above the cowl as well..,
I made a video on my iPhone but can't seem to upload it here?

I wonder if the "tucked in" position is effecting my top end speed?
I would like to figure out why I'm only getting 50ish mph? Even when I got the RPM's to go up to 5500-5600

I guess I shouldn't have moved the engine up until AFTER I tried running it with the tilt all the way up...

might be time to look for a better prop.
like a tempest.

or have your current prop worked.

both options will increase your topend.

I think that might be wise Steve... Start with a known good prop... What does it take to "clean one up" and balance one? Just a guesstimate! I realize it's hard to quote without seeing it...

Another thought is to double check the throttle linkage at carbs for going full throttle. Get some trim extenders. When you get everything fine tuned out you will need to epoxy the top 2 or 3 holes on the water pickup to prevent loosing water pressure from getting air.

OK I got around to raising the engine to get a true 3.5" between the bottom of the pad and the centerline of the prop!
Here is a video I made... does this look right to you guys with experience?
