I plan to go there for the first time tomorrow (Saturday) and would appreciate any tips.

Where should I put in? Where are some known good spots to fish? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks!

I dont have any fishing tips for you but I would suggest staying home. Winds tomorrow are supposed to be 15-30mph. Tawakoni is a big lake and with winds like that it will be very dangerous, especially for a first timer on the lake. Lots of shallow sand bars on the lake. If you do plan to go wear life jackets, kill switch and let someone know you will be there and stay in contact with them frequently. Sorry to sound discouraging but if anything was to happen the water is very cold right now. Good luck to ya and be safe.

I live just N of the lake and +100% on that advice, St Park would be where to launch, I know I will pass on going with wind like that.

Have you thought about trying for hybrids on Lake Belton? It is a short ride from your location and has the potential for fun near home. I caught 4 hybrids dead sticking a couple of weeks ago and watched some guys trolling limit out by 8:15 in the morning. Tawakoni is a great lake but it is a long ride. Think local. PM me for details.
