Alright guys, I know there have been a dozen questions about pines lately, but I've got a couple more. Which ramp is the best to launch from, and where's the nearest bait shop coming in from Jefferson? Planning on heading down there from Texarkana way the weekend. Thanks.

If you're coming into Jefferson on 59, just turn right on 49 and stop in at 3 Way, or whatever it's called now, at the intersection of 49 & 729. They will have whatever live bait you want.
The closest ramp from there would be either Overlook or Hurricane Creek. Both will be busy and likely populated by challenged boat ramp drivers. I live close to Johnson's and use it exclusively. Parking is limited sometimes, but good wide ramp.

Thank ya sir. Hope to catch a little lightning in a bottle. Patman is muddy right now and I've got the itch so I figured I might try my luck down that way.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty much an amateur when it comes to fishing, so I need all the help I can get.

I say take you a bunch a minnows
tandem rig them with an school crappie rig and a 3/8 bell sinker
follow the boats
hold it right off the bottom maybe a few inches
then show us all them big ole barn door LOP crappie ya ketch
side note ....don't throw none back
you HAVE TO KEEP all crappie ketched there this time of year
and don't exceed your 25 each ....
good luck to ya ....

Ketchn do you troll real slow, find the baitfish just off the channel, or anchor down? Seems to be 3 different schools of thought down there.

I wonder how many boats are actually using a 3/8 oz sinker when spider rigging 30 to 40 foot deep?

Interesting info!

arkiecat, Wright Patman is just starting to get there! Recent rains and current is soon to be of the past! I went today and caught several box fish! No need to travel that far! I thought about going there myself but "patience is a virtue". This next week, if the "Corp shuts the Gates", it will be on.

Probing brush for crappie is my game!

Jimmy it's good to hear patman is getting right. Bout time to start heading to the straight away up river. Ild heard they was biting in Herron Creek in about 16 fow before we had all this rain.

You may find a few by going down river to Aikin creek and going up it if there is not too much brush.

set that hook!
