Has anyone ever had any luck dyeing hooks to make them red and if you have what did you use?

Well they make a blade dye I would suppose it would work on hooks as well although that is just a guess on my part.

I guess you could use the Spike It dip for spinnerbait blades and it work. Never tried it. Might have to.

you can spray paint them gold first, then let that dry, then paint them red

I do prefer the red hooks in some conditions , but I have always just bought them that way.

But it's not really a dye it's a dip, so the hook points were coated with the dip enough that they weren't really as sharp as I prefer. For that reason, I haven't really used the ones I did myself. I suppose you could re-sharpen the points after you dip them. If you're only going to coat a few hooks, that might be ok, but if you plan to do a bunch it would be a real pain. If you decide to re-sharpen the points, you can start a new thread about whether hand-sharpening is as good as factory-sharpening and if hand-sharpened points rust quicker than factory points.
