First of all I want to thank everyone who has answered my few posts before. This site is very helpful for me since I am a novice fisherman. Second, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and stay safe tonight. A lot of crazies out there.
Heres my deal. A buddy of mine I played football with in college is back from working on a pipeline and wants to go fishing. I said that Twok has always been good to me the 3 times I went this summer. Hammered sand bass and hybrids. It was easy because the birds were working and it was easy to locate the fish. The problem is the conditions has changed a bit since the summer.... and I really don't know what to do.
I guess my questions are this:
I launch at Holliday, and it was real easy to spot the birds working... Are they still working in the mornings now that it is winter?
I keep reading about dead sticking. Never done it before, so is this the way to go? If so, what size jig heads do I need, how deep should we fish, and what color should I use for the swim baits?
Any other advice will be appreciated. Like I said, I am very inexperienced when it comes to fishing and would love to learn more about it. We are going this Thursday, Jan 2nd.
Again, thank you and be safe tonight.
Greg

Call Trent Miller(stripaholic) and he will provide a great time and teach you more about catching fish on Twok than you could learn yourself in 20 trips.
He is a deadsticking master this time of year. He can also put you on huge blue cats.
Good Luck.

We tryed today the wind was crazy ..It is tuff to give a slow presentation in 3 ft swells. The wind is forecasted to be higher than it was today. If you go be carefull .... Not the best time to learn the lakes winter pattern for fishing IMO.

Like MJ said it was a tough on Twok today. Wind gust to 33 almost constant at times according to wunderground. A bit harder to find um and not slow enough to catch um. I had 2, 30 inch socks out. I'm in a small 17' F/Ski and was still moving .6 to 1.0 mph. The bite, according to some reports seems to be better at CC. PM Mr.Dennis Christian. He's the man that knows how and where the bite is on CC when it comes to Hybrids and Sandbass. Good luck
