i bought a new to me fish and ski and by the time its ready to float off the trailer, its deeper than a regular bass boat would be.. so i have to wear rubber boots or climb on tire into back of truck walk the plank of death etc.. pain.. anybody use rope method? how long do u make the rope? it has a keel guard.. i just havent figured out the best way..especially when there isnt a dock beside the ramp.. im solo 99 percent of time.. suggestions for my situation? other than get a real boat. thanks

Rope method will be fine. Make it long enough that you can hold it in drivers seat and float boat off trailer. They also make a bungee type contraption(somebody will be along w/ name) that pulls boat back towards ramp once it is floated and you start pulling out

Take the roap and tie one end to trailer winch area and other to bow eye on boat. Back in till it floats off then pull up some and unhook rope from trailer and just pull boat wherever you need it so you can get in. That's what I do when solo.
I can backlash toilet paper.

This way works real nice, just don't pull up too fast as you will never get out of the truck fast enough to catch the boat before it hits the trailer.--Smitty

I have a Hamby's on my Eyra and I tie my rope to the trailer, float the boat off and pull the truck up until the boat is on the ramp, get out & unhook.

A lot of times when I am by myself I tie one end of the rope to the boat and the other to the dock, float it off and just pull the boat to me after I park the truck.

That's what I do when solo. when alone...I just let out enough of the bow strap to get the boat floating, pull up some and there you are...If you make some kinda mistake your boat is still hooked up...

most of the time I just get in the boat and back it off, tie to dock or pull to bank and then go move the truck. takes all of 5 mins most of the time.

I use this: Z-Launch Watercraft Launch Cord along with an extra 15' of 5/8 rope. The Z-Launch folks recommend letting out your strap but I don't care for that myself which is why I use an additional length of rope. I back my boat into the water until it slides off then I pull forward and it beaches itself on the keel guard. You could just use a rope but I do like having the bungee. Gives it a bit of shock absorber when it hits the end and also keeps it from pulling to high up on the boat ramp. Once its beached I tie it off and go park my truck. Enough bow is out of the water where I don't get wet. Recovery is basically reversing the process. Beach the boat. Back the trailer in. Load.

The rope to trailer is a really good method and that can be done numerous different ways to avoid stepping into the water to get into the boat to go tie up or beach the boat. Some ramps don't have a shore line to beach (rocks) and there is not always a dock close to the ramp to tie off to. At Eagle Mountain the new Twin Points ramp is just as I mentioned. Rocky shoreline and the dock is 100 yards walk. Very poor designed launching facility for those that from time to time launch by themselves. They could have placed the dock a little closer to the ramp.

I use a rope instead of my strap (had one break and boat floated off). I have a rope that has snap hook on each end and reaches to the end of the trailer. I hook one to the bow eye the other to the wench tower. Back down slowly when boat floats hit the break and it should ease off, then pull forward so you can get the rope with out getting wet.
