Tawakoni yesterday my custormers and I were moving from one spot to another when we saw this pelican floating so we stop to investgate.

When we took a closer look you could see he had bit off more than he could swallow.

The catfish looked like it was about two to three pounds...if you look at the bottom of the throat you can see the fin sticking out preventing the pelican from spitting it out...must have been a terrible death for both of them...pelicans look big from a distance...close up they are Huge !

Did they taste alright together? Or did you separate and make two different meals? Pelican more than likely tastes like chicken anywho! bolt

Very cool pics and story Joe. Poor fella. The newbies on my boat and i were taking about how huge and beautiful the black winged pelicans are on hubbard. I noticed there are plenty of pelicans on twok and rh the past two years. I normally see them in large group on the coast.

Merry Christmas Mr. Read smile

Can't remember what we called those pelicans at Cooper Lake - been a long time ago, before my memory took a dump.

When I fished GV, the pelicans would gulp down anything but catfish. They would stab them with their beaks and fly off with them impaled on their beaks. I guess they went somewhere and ate them a bite at a time, but I don't know.
