My brother & I fished on Sunday morning. We drove down from Corpus Christi and got on the water around 8:00 am. We launched at the state park and ran straight across the lake into Mexico. We moved into the evergreen trees in 3'-6' of water. My brother started out with a spinner bait and caught a small bass ( 1 1/2#) on his 3rd cast. Looked like it was going to be a good day. I was throwing a chatter bait with a 5" swim bait trailer. We also threw square bills with no results. I finally got a fish to hit it about 15 minutes later and it went about 3#. We fished in that area until 10:30. We ended up with 7 fish ranging 1 1/2# - 3 1/2#. We were going to change spots since the bite had slowed drastically. I started the boat and when I tried to shift into gear all I got was a lot of grinding. It would go into reverse but not forward. We finally messed it with until it finally went into gear. At that point we decided that getting back to the U.S. side of the lake was more important than trying to fish longer and fighting the shifting problem so we headed back to the ramp and loaded up. Seven fish in about 3 hours was good for us. Just wish we could have gotten into some bigger fish. There is always next trip after I get the motor to shift again and that will not be long.

I hope to get down there on 1-1-14 for a day and a half. My partner has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and I have been spending time with him lately. Almost hate to make the trip down there without him.

Thanks for the report and good luck on your next trip down.

Hope you have a great trip. Sorry to hear about your partner. My brother in law is going through about the same thing. I have always found it is good to get away from it all for a day or two. Gives you time to get your self together when going through hard times.

Thanks guys.. He starts his first treatments today.

Mother weather looks like she is going to send us another cold front Wednesday so I doubt I will make he trip to Falcon this week. That lake almost needs two or three days to recover from a front before the fish bite again. Think I will hit coleto on Thursday.
